Mainstream Crypto Use Said to Be Just One Cycle Away

At a recent summit in Monaco, industry figures suggested that the global crypto market is much closer to mass adoption than many realize.

While the number of holders was estimated at around 659 million by the end of 2025, insiders now argue the next cycle could propel digital assets into the wallets of billions worldwide.

Thomas Prévot of Crypto.com was among those making bold predictions, saying the industry is “one cycle away” from having five billion users. He compared that level of usage to the ubiquity of credit cards today, though he stressed that this wave will likely follow a downtrend before the next major bull market kicks off.

The first milestone, according to several panelists, will be reaching a billion users — enough to push cryptocurrencies into mainstream recognition as a payment system, not just an investment. Some analysts even argue this could fuel extreme price appreciation.

Bitcoin commentator Willy Woo, for instance, has projected a potential $700,000 price tag for BTC if portfolios globally devote a modest share to the asset.

Different paths to adoption were debated. OKX’s Roy van Krimpen suggested retail speculation could once again act as the spark, just as it did in the 2021 rally. Others, including Coinbase’s Chintan Turakhia, emphasized that real-world blockchain applications and user-friendly tools will ultimately be what sustains mass adoption.

Whether through speculation or utility, industry veterans agree on one thing: crypto’s next growth phase could be the one that makes digital assets truly global.
