House Subcommittee to Hold Hearing on Federal Digital Asset Regulatory Framework

The House Financial Services Committee’s subcommittee on digital assets will hold a crucial hearing on April 9, addressing the creation of a federal regulatory framework for digital assets.

The hearing, titledAmerican Innovation and the Future of Digital Assets: Aligning U.S. Securities Laws for the Digital Age“. marks the 119th Congress’ first public attempt to establish rules for the $2.7 trillion crypto industry in the U.S.

Key Legislation Efforts in the Works

Republican leaders are pushing to deliver both stablecoin and market structure bills to President Trump before the August recess—just four months away. Although no formal market structure bill has been introduced yet, insiders suggest that behind-the-scenes work is underway on a revised draft. This version aims to build on prior bills like the Fit for the 21st Century Act (FIT21), which passed the House last year, and the Responsible Financial Innovation Act, introduced by Senators Lummis and Gillibrand.

At the Digital Chamber Blockchain Summit last week, House Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill(R-AR) announced that the House is preparing to release a revised market structure draft in the coming weeks. Additionally, the House Financial Services Committee will hold a markup session for the STABLE Act—the House’s stablecoin legislation, set to complement the Senate’s GENIUS Act.
