HYPE Price: Breakout Done, Now Comes the Hard Part

HYPE Price: Breakout Done, Now Comes the Hard Part

Hyperliquid’s HYPE has climbed out of the falling channel that framed its slide from $97.95, but the 50-day average just above has not yet given way.

Key Takeaways

  • Channel breakout changes structure, not yet the trend.
  • $80 Fib support is the line to hold.
  • 50-day SMA and 0.236 Fib cap $85-$87.
  • RSI sits barely above the 50 midline.

HYPE traded around $82 on the Binance HYPE/USDT daily chart, after rising 4% on October 27, the day Crypto.com opened HYPE perpetuals to US traders.

How HYPE got here

The impulse that carried HYPE from about $51 to its cycle peak near $98 ended in a slow, orderly retreat. On the chart, that retreat fits inside a descending parallel channel, shaded blue: two falling trendlines that capped each bounce and caught each dip for several weeks.

Price has now pushed above the channel’s upper line. Today’s session is calm by comparison, up about 0.2%, inside a narrow range between $81 and $82. That quiet matters. A breakout with no follow-through often drifts back toward the line it just broke, as traders check whether old resistance will now behave as support. That may happen here, or price may move away without looking back.

The case for the breakout, and the case against

For

Price is out of the channel that defined the whole pullback.

The broken boundary lines up with the 0.382 Fib near $80, giving any pullback a double layer of support.

HYPE holds above its 100-day and 200-day averages.

RSI has crossed back over 50, against a signal line near 41.

Against

The 50-day SMA near $85 is still overhead, so the short-term trend hasn’t turned.

The 0.236 Fib close to $87 stacks right on top of it.

RSI is only a fraction above the midline.

Today’s range is under 2%, with no follow-through yet.

Put together, the breakout has changed HYPE’s structure without yet changing its trend. Our read is that leaving the channel marks a possible shift from corrective compression back toward trend resumption. If the old boundary and the 0.382 Fib hold on any pullback, buyers will have shown real commitment, and the path opens toward the 50-day SMA and the 0.236 Fib, a heavy resistance zone that has to give before the cycle high is back in play.

The momentum picture says the same thing in miniature. An RSI back above 50 tilts intermediate momentum toward buyers, but the margin is thin enough that one weak session could erase it.

What sits above, and what sits below

Here is how the levels sit around the current price:

$98
+20%

Macro peak resistance. The 0 Fib and cycle swing-high ceiling.

$85 – $87
+4% to +6%

Primary overhead resistance. The 50-day SMA near $85 and the 0.236 Fib around $87 form a heavy cluster.

HYPE now · about $82
$80 – $82
up to −2%

Active pivot. The 0.382 Fib near $80 meets the broken upper channel boundary.

$75 – $76
−7% to −9%

Secondary structural floor. The 0.5 Fib close to $75 paired with the 100-day SMA near $76.

$66 – $69
−16% to −19%

Macro base. The 0.618 golden pocket around $69 meets the 200-day SMA near $66.

$51
−37%

Macro baseline floor. The 1.0 Fib, launch platform of the original impulse.

The asymmetry is the useful part. The nearest support is about 2% away and backed by two separate signals, while the nearest resistance is about 4% away and also doubled up. HYPE sits in a tight box between them, and a daily close outside it will say more than any intraday swing.

What a close above or below $80 would mean

Scenarios, not forecasts

Daily closes hold above the 0.382 Fib near $80, with the broken channel boundary acting as support → the breakout would stay intact, with room to extend into the $85-$87 resistance zone.

A daily close back inside the channel, below $80 → the breakout structure would be invalidated, opening a deeper mean reversion toward the $75-$76 support tier.

Either way: even the lower tier keeps HYPE above its 200-day SMA and golden pocket, so the longer climb from about $51 would survive a failed breakout. A return to the $98 peak, on the other hand, has to go through the resistance cluster first.

HYPE’s US access has widened this week. Crypto.com’s regulated perpetuals arrived on Tuesday, and Kraken’s parent Payward is seeking approval for a permissioned US market on Hyperliquid itself. On the chart, though, the signal worth waiting for is simpler: the next daily close on either side of the box between $80 and $85.
