U.S. Lawmakers Prepare Major Crypto Push with Two Regulatory Bills

A long-awaited push to regulate cryptocurrencies in the U.S. is finally picking up speed, as lawmakers prepare to introduce two pivotal bills in mid-July aimed at bringing order to the chaotic digital asset space.

Representative French Hill, a key figure on financial legislation, revealed that the upcoming proposals are designed to remove the uncertainty plaguing the crypto industry.

One bill will focus on establishing a legal structure for blockchain-related businesses, while the other targets the regulation of stablecoins—tokens pegged to the U.S. dollar that currently operate without clear federal oversight.

Hill noted that without defined rules, businesses and developers risk running afoul of unclear laws, while users remain confused about reporting, taxation, and compliance. He believes the new measures will encourage innovation within the U.S. rather than pushing crypto projects abroad.

The effort arrives as part of a designated “crypto week” on Capitol Hill, running from July 14 to July 18, during which the House will also consider a bill aimed at preventing the government from launching a surveillance-oriented digital dollar.

With the global finance sector increasingly embracing blockchain technology, lawmakers hope these legislative moves will finally give U.S. crypto policy the clarity it needs to evolve.
