Trump Unveils New Golf Course in Scotland Ahead of Groundbreaking Nexo Championship

A fresh chapter in the fusion of cutting-edge finance and world-class golf is about to unfold in Aberdeen, Scotland.
The newly completed Trump International Golf Links will serve as the stage for the first-ever Nexo Championship, taking place from August 7 to 10, and signaling a powerful new collaboration between the sport and the digital asset space.
The grand opening of the course was headlined by U.S. President Donald Trump, who welcomed global leaders from both political and business arenas. Among them were Antoni Trenchev and Kosta Kantchev, co-founders of crypto lending platform Nexo, along with Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney and other international figures from the worlds of finance and athletics.
Trenchev and Kantchev joined President Trump for a round of golf followed by a private lunch, where the conversation reportedly touched on the growing importance of digital finance, the intersection of sports and innovation, and the broader vision for blockchain adoption in global markets.

This milestone follows an earlier high-profile event hosted by Nexo in April, when Donald Trump Jr. visited Bulgaria to discuss the company’s strategic return to the U.S. market. Now, with the spotlight shifting to Aberdeen, Nexo is stepping further into the global sports spotlight.
Throughout 2025, Nexo has established itself as a major partner across six elite golf events on the DP World Tour, including prestigious tournaments like the Genesis Scottish Open, the BMW PGA Championship, and the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. The debut of the Nexo Championship represents not just a branding opportunity, but a long-term commitment to building influence at the crossroads of digital assets and elite sports.
Aberdeen, located in a country renowned as the birthplace of golf, is set to benefit from this international attention. Scotland already generates hundreds of millions annually through golf tourism, and this new event is expected to boost local business, extend the tourist season, and enhance the region’s appeal to global visitors.
With its sights set on innovation and global community engagement, Nexo’s involvement in the Nexo Championship reflects a broader ambition—to redefine how sports, finance, and technology come together on the world stage.
