Trump Signals No Rush on Trade Deal With India Despite Tariff Offer

President Donald Trump recently stated that India is willing to remove all tariffs on American goods, but also signaled that he is not in a hurry to finalize a trade deal with the country.
India, the world’s fourth-largest economy, plays a crucial role as a key buyer of U.S. farm and tech products.
Trump discussed U.S.-India trade relations and the potential for increasing American exports. He highlighted challenges businesses face when trying to engage with India, saying, “They make it almost impossible to do business.” However, he added that India is ready to cut 100 percent of its tariffs on U.S. goods.
No Rush for Trade Deals
While Trump acknowledged India’s willingness to make tariff cuts, he was ambiguous about the timing of a possible trade agreement. “That’ll come soon. I’m in no rush,” Trump stated, indicating that while progress is expected, it is not a priority. He later emphasized that he does not feel the need to “make deals with everybody.”
Trump’s comments also hint at a continuation of the White House’s approach to tariffs. With a July deadline approaching for a pause on higher tariffs, Trump noted that decisions about unilateral tariffs on certain countries will still be made, suggesting that some nations may continue to face trade barriers.
