Kraken to Launch Tokenized U.S. Stocks for 24/7 Trading — Apple, Tesla, Nvidia Included

Crypto exchange Kraken is preparing to roll out a new program called xStocks, which will allow both U.S. and international users to trade tokenized versions of over 50 popular U.S. stocks and ETFs, including Apple, Tesla, and Nvidia—available 24/7 on the blockchain.

These “tokenized equities” are digital tokens backed 1:1 by shares of the actual underlying stocks. Kraken’s partner, Backed Finance, will manage share acquisition and ensure each token is fully collateralized.

While the offering represents a major leap forward in merging traditional finance with decentralized platforms, it’s not the first of its kind. A similar effort by Binance in 2021 was short-lived after regulators raised concerns over licensing and compliance across jurisdictions.

Kraken’s move could reshape equity trading by making U.S. stock exposure more accessible and borderless—especially for overseas investors seeking round-the-clock access to high-demand equities.
