EU Fines Apple and Meta Almost $800 Million Combined

The European Union has imposed a combined fine of €700 million ($797 million) on Apple and Meta for violating its Digital Markets Act.

This marks the first enforcement of the landmark law designed to regulate digital competition and curb the power of major tech firms.

Apple received a $570 million penalty, while Meta was fined $228 million. These penalties come at a time when the EU is facing criticism from the Trump administration, which accuses the bloc of unfairly targeting American companies.

The European Commission, the EU’s executive arm, announced the fines on Wednesday, underscoring its commitment to holding tech giants accountable under the new regulatory framework.
