“This is not just about Brazil,” Lula said. “No small country can negotiate on equal footing with the U.S. alone.”
He plans to reach out to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and other BRICS leaders in the coming days to gauge how the bloc can respond collectively. With ten BRICS members currently in the G20, Lula believes the group has both economic weight and political leverage to push back.
