Almost 2 months have passed since the release of the update that allowed the purchase of cryptocurrency via Apple Pay, and we are now ready to summarize some results.
Recall that the bitcoin hype occurred in December and early January. The cryptocurrency was at the top of news feed, and everyone wanted to find a quick way to become a holder of the first cryptocurrency. A week after the new Apple Pay payment method launch, the volume of bitcoin purchases in Lumi Wallet increased by 209%. Users left a lot of feedback about the latest update with support, on social networks, and in the application store.
We can say that purchases via Apple Pay already account for 20% of the total turnover on iOS. The growing interest from crypto users and a significant influx of new users helped the Lumi Wallet app enter the top 10 apps on the iOS US market for the “Bitcoin” and “crypto wallet” queries.
According to Lumi, 95% prefer to buy bitcoin, but after the recent ATH from Ethereum, the number of transactions for the second-largest currency increased by 15%.
Surprisingly, most new users are from Latin America, which has grown by 29% since the beginning of the year. Further, a significant increase in novice users was from Canada (17%) and Europe (5.8%).
The introduced new function of buying cryptocurrency via Apple Pay has reduced the time of KYC verification. Previously, buying cryptocurrency via credit cards took from 10 to 14 minutes, and Apple Pay identification allows you to buy cryptocurrency in less than 15 seconds.

New payment systems enable 300M people from over 30 countries to buy crypto using Apple Pay. For U.S. citizens there are $500 daily and weekly limits, and $5,000 yearly. For non-U.S. citizens, daily and weekly limits will be $1,000 and $7,500 yearly.
