Russia lets footballs fans purchase their tickets for the World Cup through credit card payments and bank transfers, but is it really possible for crypto- users to get a ticket with bitcoin?
With less than two months before the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, crypto/football enthusiasts want to know if they can use digital currency in Russia to purchase their tickets.
More and more people from all over the world now prefer to use cryptocurrencies for payments and international money transfers. Bitcrypto News recently asked the Organizing Committee and FIFA why cryptocurrencies are not accepted as payment methods for the World Cup ticket sale.
But even thou the news outlet got no response, football and bitcoin fans should not worry. There are many ways in which you can spend your cryptos at the World Cup.
If you want to use your bitcoins to purchase a ticket to the football game, there is a way. Two companies are now providing services via cards distributed by the leading international payment services. Both of them can be used in Russia, on FIFA’s website, and anywhere else in the world.
The first choice would be one of FIFA’s sponsors, Wirex. They now offer new Visa debit cards that feature multiple currency accounts in GBP, EUR, USD, and BTC, which are available in Europe. Plastic cards have already been given to customers in certain countries, such as the UK. Virtual cards are available in other countries, such as Sweden.
“We are going to issue plastic cards in Europe in 4 weeks”, said Wirex to one of the applicants a few of days ago. Make sure you check the availability, so you can order and receive your prepaid Visa debit card in time for the World Cup.
The other option would be Epayments. If you’ll go to their website, you’ll find that they offer a Mastercard can store your bitcoins. Their wallet also accepts Bitcoin cash (BCH), along with litecoin(LTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Fiat currencies including dollars, euros, and even rubles (through Yandex money and Qiwi accounts) can be put on the card.
Epayments cards are prepaid and do not hold your cryptos, as they are exchanged instantly. If you manage to spend more than 300 euros a month, no service fee will be charged. Before signing up with your email and ordering you card check all the other fees. The card can be shipped for free to you. In most countries the delivery time is between 2 to 8 weeks, but an express delivery option is also available.
