XRP Ledger to Launch EVM Sidechain in Q2 2025

The XRP Ledger will soon support Ethereum smart contracts through a new EVM-compatible sidechain.

Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz, confirmed the launch window during the Apex 2025 summit in Singapore.

This sidechain aims to merge XRP’s efficient transaction model with Ethereum’s versatile contract features.

Built on evmOS, Powered by Ripple and Peersyst

The development relies on evmOS software and is led by Ripple and Peersyst. The sidechain runs in parallel to the XRP Ledger, expanding its functionality without compromising speed or cost-efficiency.

Currently live on testnet, the sidechain is undergoing final validations before its Q2 mainnet release.

Testing Phase Nears Completion Before Full Rollout

Mainnet launch depends on successful testnet trials and validator coordination. Developers expect full deployment once system performance and security benchmarks are met.

The sidechain will open the door for Ethereum developers to build directly within the XRP Ledger framework—marking a major technical leap for the platform.
