X to Launch Investment and Trading Features

X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, is preparing to roll out investment and trading features, accelerating Elon Musk’s ambition to transform the social network into a comprehensive financial and social ecosystem, according to CEO Linda Yaccarino in an interview with The Financial Times.
“Whether I can pay you for the pizza that we shared last night, or make an investment, or a trade — that’s the future,” Yaccarino said, summarizing X’s expanding functionality.
The move builds on Musk’s long-promised plan to create an “everything app,” combining communication, commerce, payments, and finance in one seamless experience.
X Money and Visa Partnership Set to Launch
X’s financial expansion includes X Money, a peer-to-peer digital wallet developed in partnership with Visa. The service will allow users to link debit cards, make payments, store value, and tip creators directly on the platform. An initial U.S. launch is expected soon, with international expansion planned after early testing.
The rollout will begin with tight security measures, particularly focused on protecting users’ personal savings. Yaccarino confirmed that X is also exploring the release of a branded credit or debit card, potentially launching later this year.
The introduction of investment and trading functionality marks a pivotal shift for X, positioning the platform not only as a social media hub, but as a digital financial gateway for users worldwide.
