Soulja Boy, an America rapper released a new album titled “Young Drako” on the 4th of October 2018. The album contains a track dedicated to the most popular and largest cryptocurrency on the market, “Bitcoin”. The track which is number four on the album list further states the amount of money he supposedly made off the digital currency.
New Album from Soulja Boy
Soulja Boy did not go into the details encompassing the cryptocurrency industry and this was evident in the lyrics of the song. The complexity of the technology is probably the reason he steered away from the details in his music.
He stated repeatedly in the song that he made $100,000 off the cryptocurrency market, therefore, it would be easy to assume that he’s referring to the bull run experienced towards the end of 2017. It is, however, a topic up for deliberation if Soulja Boy owned any Bitcoin or not.
Other Rappers With Reference to Bitcoin
Soulja Boy is however not the only famous artist, or even the only rapper, to have released songs with references to cryptocurrency in their lyrics. On August 31, 2018, Grammy award-winning rapper Eminem released an album titled ”Kamikaze’ in which he mentioned bitcoin on a track titled ‘Not Alike’. He hinted at the high popularity of the new crypto asset class.
50 Cent, an American rapper was the first to accept bitcoin as a method of payment for his songs in 2014. This was shortly after the release of his new album, “Animal Ambition”. It was reported that he earned about 700 BTC during this period. He disclosed this early this year.
There has been reporting of several celebrities pulling their weight around blockchain technology. A good example is Micheal Tyson who is going as far as having a wallet named after him.
The popular wallet Abra has one of its adviser as a female celebrity, Gwyneth Paltrow.
