The Bitcoin Embassy on Formans Road which is located in UK, Birmingham, was taken by assault by a group of thieves at 10 pm on July 15.

The entire incident was posted to Facebook, with the thieves being caught on tape taking what seems to be a receipt roll from a bitcoin ATM owned by the Shitcoins Club.

The CEO of, Adam Gramowski, stated that the ATM in Birmingham was a smaller model and it was in operation since September 2018. He has stated that the thrives ripped the cable and took the ATM out from its anchorages and out into the street.

“It is a two-way machine capable of conducting sales and purchases of four different cryptos: BTC, ETH, LTC and DASH. We sell cryptos for GBP and EUR,” stated the CEO.

“I can confirm that our Birmingham self-service shop was broken into on July 15. However, the robbers were spotted by our CCTV operator in time and were unable to penetrate our countermeasures. The ATM was not damaged, it will be up and running in no time. Damages to the shop are minimal. Also, the line or rope seen behind the car has nothing to do with the ATM. We do not store Cryptos on the ATM’s hard drive or provide cold storage facilities for our customers. That line was brought by the robbers to facilitate the robbery.”

Birmingham had its first bitcoin ATM installed in the city in 2017, with local news outlet publicizing that “Birmingham gets first Bitcoin ATM – the internet currency used by criminals on ‘dark web’.” The paper saw a connection between the installation of the ATM with the disastrous NHS ransomware attack which happened in the same year.

Additional information was not provided by the “bitcoin embassy”, and Gramowski only stating that the  ATM was left without any supervision. From the recording, the thieves did not take anything of value, just made a lot of mess.
