A new collaboration succeeded between Ripple and the Hyperledger Blockchain Consortium. The announcement was made by Hyperledger association on 28th March 2018.
Ripple has joined a new association. Hyperledger’s announcement indicates that Ripple has become one of the 14 members of the consortium set up by the end of 2015. The Hyperledger Group boasts over 200 companies and organizations that match each other to meet the common goals. Also, besides Ripple, among Hyperledger consortium has joined the group CULedger, a private consortium created by an ensemble of credit unions that have become remarkable in 2017 by setting up a company focusing on industrial services.
“Through our partnership with Hyperledger, developers will be able to access Interledger Protocol (ILP) in Java for enterprise use“, stated the Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer Stefan Thomas.
“The accelerating pace of growth and adoption of Hyperledger across industries and geographies underscores the power of our community and the technologies it is building. It also reflects a global awakening to the impact of blockchain for business. Every day, we hear from organizations with new ideas and new applications for our frameworks. Our growing and diverse membership is key to turning that energy and innovation into the building blocks for increasingly business critical deployments.”, explained the Executive Director of Hyperledger, Brian Behlendorf.
After a while, these two companies have filled their new Java-based protocol to Hyperledger, under the name Hyperledger Quilt.
“The Hyperledger Quilt project connects Hyperledger blockchains with other ILP-capable payment systems such as XRP Ledger, Ethereum, Bitcoin (Lightning), Litecoin, Mojaloop and RippleNet, helping us to deliver on our vision for an internet of value – where money moves as information does today“, explained Thomas.
The Hyperledger Consortium intends to launch three other blockchain-based projects, but also to create an application that will speed up the development of these projects.
