OPEC+ Weighs Fresh Oil Output Hike for November

OPEC+ is weighing another production hike for November, signaling the alliance’s determination to regain market share despite industry warnings of a looming oil surplus.
Sources close to the talks say members are considering at least matching the 137,000 barrels per day increase already lined up for October. The group will finalize the decision at its virtual gathering on October 5.
The coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, has been gradually restoring 1.66 million barrels per day of previously curtailed supply in small monthly steps. While earlier increases were larger, recent increments have been modest, reflecting both caution and the limited capacity of some member states.
So far, the market has absorbed the returning barrels with little disruption. Brent crude futures are up around 3% this month, suggesting traders remain confident demand can accommodate the additional flows.
The upcoming OPEC+ meeting will also be viewed through a political lens. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is set to visit Washington in November for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, who has been vocal about his desire to keep fuel prices lower as part of broader efforts to ease inflationary pressures and justify interest rate cuts.
Insiders caution that discussions are ongoing and no final decision has been reached, meaning the eventual size of the November increase could still change.
