When it comes to ensuring a widespread adoption of cryptocurrency, all hands need to be on deck. Another notable gesture to push the course of cryptocurrency has been seen in the case of a downtown London cab driver who is well-known for providing his passengers with the ability to purchase BTC easily. The driver’s name is Dave Jenkins, also known as the Crypto Cabbie. Jenkins makes use of a special hardware PoS device manufactured by a company called Fastbitcoins to sell BTC.
Fastbitcoins Operates Using a Voucher System
In a recent interview, Jenkins made it known that he carries around the BTC selling device, while his shift is on. Therefore, if after offering a passenger the opportunity of buying bitcoin from him in exchange for cash and such passenger is interested in buying, all he does collect the cash and issue voucher which can then be redeemed for BTC at some specific locations in London. A receipt is also given to the passenger just after the whole transactions has been completed.
Based on what Jenkins said in a recent interview, the process takes little time and also it is easier and more straightforward than going through an exchange or using a crypto ATM in London which might require KYC identification.
He explained this in a statement which reads:
“You know, you just turn up, get in the cab, hand the cash over and you’ve got your bitcoin and away you go,”
Jenkins also explained that he is the “first of his kind” and that currently, no can driver is offering similar services within London.
The Bear Market is Not an Excuse
Danny Brewster, the creator of the U.K.-based Fastbitcoins point-of-sale (PoS) terminal company has also made it known that he and Jenkins are good friends and that he sells the crypto-enabled PoS devices to retail stores and businesses worldwide. He further explained that developing his business during the crypto bear market further makes the company even stronger and prepared for tougher market conditions in the future.
