Kremlin Says Putin Still Open to Talks with Trump Amid Tensions Over Ukraine

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin remains "open" to dialogue with U.S. President Donald Trump, despite escalating tensions over the war in Ukraine.
Peskov emphasized that Putin was available for conversation, although no call was scheduled at the moment.
Peskov clarified that while no phone call between the leaders is currently on the calendar, the two could speak “promptly” when the situation demands it. This comes after Trump expressed his frustration over Putin’s recent comments regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s leadership.
Trump, in an interview with NBC News, shared his anger at Putin’s remarks, noting his dissatisfaction with the lack of progress toward a ceasefire in Ukraine. The U.S. president also warned of imposing secondary tariffs of 25% to 50%on buyers of Russian oil if Moscow continues to block efforts to end the conflict.
