Kraken Secures MiCA License From Ireland’s Central Bank

Kraken has announced that it has received a MiCA license from the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI), becoming the first major global crypto exchange to achieve this milestone under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation.

The license paves the way for Kraken to scale regulated services across all 30 European Economic Area (EEA) countries, marking a major step in its regional expansion strategy.

“This isn’t just about compliance — it’s a signal of our long-term commitment to the crypto ecosystem through responsible innovation,” said Arjun Sethi, Kraken’s co-CEO. He emphasized that trust remains the most valuable currency in crypto and noted the firm’s multi-year effort to meet the CBI’s high regulatory standards.

With this approval, Kraken plans to expand its institutional and retail offerings and reach millions of EU users with secure, regulated digital asset services. The company also praised the Irish Government and IDA Ireland for their role in supporting a collaborative regulatory environment.

Kraken views this achievement as both a regulatory benchmark and a blueprint for public-private partnership in shaping Europe’s financial future.
