Ethereum Foundation Reveals New Leadership Structure and 12-Month Roadmap

In a series of tweets, the Ethereum Foundation (EF) provided a detailed breakdown of its evolving leadership structure, strategic direction, and ecosystem goals for the next year.

This marks a rare and valuable update into the internal mechanics of the organization behind one of crypto’s most influential networks.

Renewed Vision & Guiding Principles

The Ethereum Foundation reaffirmed its mission: to strengthen the Ethereum ecosystem while upholding its core values. Its role is twofold—driving forward critical progress directly and supporting those within the broader Ethereum community who help lead the ecosystem. To stay aligned with the ecosystem’s rapid evolution, the EF emphasized the importance of adapting to community needs without compromising on foundational principles like decentralization and open collaboration.

Co-Executive Directors and Priorities

Two new Co-Executive Directors were introduced: Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz K. Stańczak. Their responsibilities include executing the EF’s vision and championing its values—specifically, censorship resistance, open-source innovation, privacy, and security.

Their leadership focus for the next 12 months includes:

  • Scaling Ethereum Layer 1
  • Scaling blobs (likely referring to blob-carrying transactions for data availability via proto-danksharding)
  • Improving user experience (UX)

These objectives underline Ethereum’s push toward more scalability and user accessibility in 2025.

Leadership and Governance Breakdown

The EF also clarified the structure of its internal teams:

EF Management Team (Operational Leadership):

  • Hsiao-Wei Wang, Co-ED
  • Tomasz K. Stańczak, Co-ED
  • Bastian Aue
  • Josh Stark

EF Board of Directors (Vision and Oversight):

  • Vitalik Buterin
  • Aya Miyaguchi
  • Hsiao-Wei Wang
  • Patrick Storchenegger (Swiss Counsel)

While the management team focuses on day-to-day execution, the Board sets the long-term vision and ensures compliance as a Swiss foundation.
