Donald Trump Announces Trade Deal with China

President Trump has announced that a trade deal with China has been finalized, pending final endorsement by both himself and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The agreement centers on the supply of critical materials and includes provisions related to education and tariffs.
Rare Earths and Education Included in Terms
As part of the deal, China has agreed to provide the United States with full shipments of magnets and other essential rare earth elements upfront. In return, the U.S. will honor its commitments, which include continuing to welcome Chinese students at American colleges and universities—a point President Trump emphasized as personally acceptable.
Tariff Structure Favors U.S.
According to Trump, the U.S. will impose a total of 55% in tariffs under the new arrangement, while China will apply just 10% in return. He noted that the relationship with China remains strong and described the current status of negotiations as “excellent.”
Trump concluded by thanking the public for their attention to the matter, signaling confidence in the positive direction of U.S.-China trade relations.
