Merchants in Cannes, France — home to the iconic Cannes Film Festival — are preparing to accept cryptocurrency payments by summer 2025.
The move aims to modernize the city’s payment infrastructure and attract high-net-worth visitors by offering them more flexible, digital-friendly transaction options.
According to information from Artem Shaginyan, founder and head of strategy at Web3 payments firm Lunu Pay, the Cannes municipal government is pushing for a 90% adoption rate among local merchants.
The initiative is designed to position Cannes as a forward-thinking, luxury destination ready to cater to the growing number of crypto-savvy travelers.
