Ashton Kutcher, an American actor, comedian, producer, and former model, has collaborated with the San Francisco-based platform Ripple to make a surprise to Ellen DeGeneres, the presenter of the show with the same name.
The actor offered a donation of $ 4 million worth in XRP to the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund. Kutcher, who is also a venture capitalist and one of the founders of Sound Ventures, made the donation during the Ellen DeGeneres Show on 23 May. According to the actor, the decision to collaborate with Ripple was taken from a previous meeting with the crypto company.
“So, we were meeting with these folks and [Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen and CEO Brad Garlinghouse] were talking to us about the ethics of this company and this platform and how they actually really care about being an ethical company and giving a portion of this platform away to people that are doing good in the world,” stated Kutcher.
“We [told Ripple], there’s this amazing human being and all they ever do is think about other people they can give to. Whether it’s in New Orleans, whether it’s in Montecito, whether it’s the people that come here, the people out there, you’re always thinking about everyone else and we wanted to show you that people are thinking about you,” he added.

Kutcher was collaborating with Ripple earlier or better said the company he owns has invested regularly in Ripple projects. The actor made the transaction during the show using the XRP payment application, thus promoting the network’s benefits such as “near-instant cross-border transactions“.
“Now, usually people come out with a big giant check and do the ‘big giant check thing’, but we can transfer it into Rwandan Francs right now right here, and all you need to do is push this button,” he said.
Kutcher is already familiar with the crypto environment. The A-Grade Investments, another company that he owns, has invested in BitPay in the past.
Ripple is recognized as the platform involved in helping non-profit organizations. The latest and bigger donation the company made was worth $ 29 million in XRP to support DonorsChoose projects.
