The London School of Economics, a top British research university which has an established reputation in politics and economics has started dabbling with cryptocurrency. It was reported that the institution recently made available an online course on digital currencies titled “Cryptocurrency Investment and Disruption.”

The Basics of Cryptocurrency

The six-week course is expected to teach students practical facts on cryptocurrencies along with the “theoretical thought leadership for which LSE is renowned.” The first class will start in mid-August.

Its prospectus details course information with regards to the material that is needed to understand the underlying principles of cryptocurrencies. For the duration of the course, students are expected to assimilate knowledge from subjects such as trading platforms or exchanges, the assessment of ICO analytics, and how digital wallets are used.

Its subject matter is also oriented towards treating the connexion of traditional finance and cryptocurrency markets in the future, in addition to exploring the distributed ledger technology’s possible interference with business and industries.

However, the course will not give people advice on they should make investments in cryptocurrencies. The prospectus read the following:

“During this course you will be provided with the information, knowledge and frameworks to deepen your understanding of blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies – how they operate and the implications for business and the economy. You will not be given cryptocurrency investing advice, or investment or financial advice of any nature.”
